Through the art of body piercing, I explore the diversity and complexity of modern identity. This work focuses on hundreds of participants from diverse backgrounds—university students, nightclub workers, and others—each of whom pierces a symbol of unique self-expression and life stories. Every stud, every hole, bears witness to personal journeys, complete with rituals: birthdays marked for each piercing, gifts prepared to honor the act, infusing the process with profound ceremony.

In intimate conversations with participants, I uncover their narratives: from "Pain Kitten" a girl scarred by school bullying, to young women seeking solace from depression through piercing… These stories unfold in fragments, highlighting the emotions and memories etched into every body part—transparent high school piercings, rejected navel rings, untamed rock aesthetics—each a bold assertion of self amid societal pressures.

I distill these puncture sites into intimate portraits, piecing together fragmented identities of the real body through books. This work delves into the profound connections between self-expression, body art, and social identity, revealing how we wear hatred, hope, and history like talismans upon our skin.
